I love to sit down with a few coloring pages as the perfect relaxing escape during a cozy self care night, or whenever I need a creative task to help spark my imagination or inspire a new idea.
As a bonus, studies have shown that coloring can also act as a form of creative therapy – helping to reduce stress and calm the mind. Whether you are feeling stressed out from work or just need some time to unwind, coloring pages are a relaxing creative outlet for people of all ages.
Depending on your mood, you can choose a coloring page that suits your interests or try something new. There are coloring books for nature lovers, animal enthusiasts, and those who enjoy intricate designs. Some coloring pages even come with affirmations or mindfulness exercises to help you focus on the present moment.
If you’re new to the world of adult coloring, you may be surprised at how much joy and relaxation it can bring into your life.
Ways to use digital coloring pages: paper vs digital
Coloring on Paper
There is something quite satisfying about seeing colors come to life on a physical page. The tactile nature of coloring on paper provides a sense of accomplishment that can’t be replicated by digital coloring tools.
The texture of the paper and the smooth glide of a marker or pencil on a page contribute to a unique sensory experience.
Not to mention, coloring on paper allows for a break from screen time and an opportunity to disconnect from technology and connect with the physical world.
If you prefer to color the traditional way (on paper!) here are some of my favorite materials:

While coloring on paper and in coloring books has its nostalgic and tactile appeals, there’s still a time and place for digital coloring pages. As with digital planning and notetaking, digital coloring books have become increasingly popular in recent years.
With a wide assortment of custom brushes, various textures, and unlimited color palettes, you’ll never run out of creative options. Plus, modern tech features like the undo button will make coloring stress-free even if you’re not confident in your abilities. The ability to zoom in on specific areas and adjust the color contrast can also make coloring a more enjoyable experience for everyone of all ages and visual restrictions.
Another plus side to digital coloring is the fact that you can reuse the pages indefinitely – simply copy and paste the original file over and over. It’s a more minimalist approach as you don’t have to worry about carrying around a bulky coloring book and a set of pencils or markers. Making it ideal for travel – truly the perfect way to pass time on an airplane!
If you want to give digital coloring a try, you’ll need to use an app made for digital art.
