How To Level Up Your Lifestyle? The Ultimate Life Reset Routine
Declutter
Before we jump into making some majorly impactful life changes, let’s start by cleaning out our physical (and digital) spaces to make room for more clarity and focus. It’s important to have a stern yet realistic approach to decluttering so that you’re not holding on to things for the wrong reasons, and also not being overly zealous and getting rid of something you may end up needing to repurchase a little way down the road.
If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed, the best places to start are the deep dark corners of drawers, cabinets, and closets. Even if we try our best to reduce clutter and stay on the minimal living train, I guarantee you have stuff back there that you didn’t even know existed. Start by tossing expired or broken items, then you’ll begin to create momentum and get into the flow of decluttering.
Areas to clean and declutter:
- Closets and drawers: Junk drawers sometimes turn into junk cabinets. This is the time to deep clean all the crumbs and organize all the tiny objects you can’t ever seem to find.
- Under sink cabinets: Kitchen and bathroom cabinets can become a dumping ground for excess cleaning products, boxes and packaging, or other unsightly items that you want to quickly hide before guests arrive. This is the perfect time to get in there and organize using storage bins or drawers if needed.
- Mugs and glassware: We all have one too many mugs and that random set of chipped glasses you never use anymore. Time to toss or donate!
- Linens and towels: This is the perfect chance to get rid of any linens or towels that have rips, tears, excessive pilling, etc.
- Medicine cabinet: Expired medicines have got to go. If you don’t have anything that needs to be tossed, take the time to organize everything by category or active ingredient so it’s easy to grab when needed.
- Beauty: makeup, skincare, and hair products all have a shelf life, and we tend to hold on to items that are way past their expiration date. Sort through these carefully so you’re not keeping any potentially harmful items.
- Seasonal decor: If you’re doing this reset at the end of the year, it’s the perfect time to sort through holiday decor bins and get rid of anything before storing it all again for another 12 months. Be realistic about the amount of items you actually use to decorate with. My rule is one in, one out: any time I purchase a new seasonal decor item, I get rid of one to balance things out.
Now it’s time to turn to our tech because digital spaces also need decluttering. I like to do this quarterly, but it’s often one of those tasks that gets left on the back burner. We are all using our devices daily, and a lot of memory space gets eaten up by files, apps, and screenshots we no longer need. Dedicate a few hours to go through your phone, tablet, and computer and either delete what you no longer need, or organize your digital spaces so that you create a better flow moving forward.
Digital spaces to clear out and organize:
- Emails: Unsubscribe from newsletters or promotional lists that you’re no longer interested in, and organize your emails into folders.
- Apps: Remove those you don’t use anymore and organize them into folders with appropriate labels.
- Social media: Unfollow or mute accounts that you no longer resonate with.
- Screenshots: Whether on a computer or phone, these tend to accumulate and nine times out of ten, we never actually need them!
- Folders: Go through and organize folders on your desktop, and make backups of important documents.
- Pinterest boards: If you’re anything like me, you have a ton of boards from past projects and events that you’re never going to need again. Delete outdated boards, and take advantage of the folder organization feature to organize/group pins within each board as well.
While we’re at it, I also like to change my phone lock screen and wallpaper for a fresh new vibe. Add an inspirational photo, collage, or affirmation (more on this later in this post) to give your mind something new and exciting to focus on every time you grab your device.
Getting rid of things we don’t need, in both physical and digital spaces, helps clear out stagnant energy and puts our minds at ease, allowing room for fresh creative ideas and the ability to take on new helpful habits.
Analyze + Reflect
Now that our spaces are decluttered and organized, it’s time to take some action and focus on exactly what it is that we want to change or improve upon. Sometimes we feel like we’re stuck in a rut or feeling kind of down, but don’t know exactly why. Well, you can’t make a change if you don’t know what needs to change.
Start by making a list of all the areas of your life that you aren’t currently happy with. (You can use the life map circle rating system to help pinpoint those areas even further.) Recognize any bad habits or negative thinking patterns you may have developed over time. The best way to do this is by keeping a journal (physical or digital) and updating it daily, or as often as possible.
Oftentimes, the things that keep us stuck or held back in life, are our limiting beliefs.
Limiting beliefs are formed in our subconscious mind and are solidified after years and years of low vibrational patterned thinking. They often act as barriers that create defense mechanisms to protect ourselves from pain. However, in doing so, they tend to cause lots of negative emotions, like anxiety and procrastination, and keep us from reaching our full potential.
The good news is, that once you know what your limiting beliefs are, you can start to get rid of them.
How do you get rid of limiting beliefs? By doing shadow work. Shadow work is the practice of tapping into past experiences and your unconscious mind to bring forward new revelations about parts of yourself that you tend to hide or repress.
If you want to dig deep and break down those recurring subconscious thoughts that make you act (or react) to certain things in a specific way that no longer serves you, you’ll need to dedicate some time to do a bit of shadow work.
There are tons of resources online that share journaling prompts for shadow work exercises, and I’ll definitely expand on this in a future post, but for now, I’ll leave some of my favorites linked in this Pinterest board. Visualization
Ahh, vision boards. We know them, we’ve made them, and we love them. Have you ever regretted making a vision board? Likely not. While not everything on your board may have come true, I can almost guarantee at least one thing (or a close variation of it) has manifested within 12-24 months. This is why the new year is an ideal time to create a vision board, though you can make one anytime.
A major part of this life reset routine takes place around creating a solid vision board.
There are many ways to create a vision board. You can choose to keep it broad to encompass all areas of life or create a different board for each category you want to focus on like love, health/wellness, finances, career, etc. The key is to pull images that represent the areas in life you want to manifest. Make it super specific and don’t play it small.
Although this can seem a bit materialistic, you can also include quotes, words, numbers, and specific images that give off a general vibe or feeling. For example, if you want to manifest an easygoing and loving relationship, you could include images of a couple holding hands or laughing in a fun relaxed environment. It’s not always about a flashy fancy car or the 3 story mansion, although that’s totally fine to also place on your board if that’s what you’re aiming for!
Some people have specific methods and techniques they follow for creating vision boards. I think the entire process should come intuitively and you should let it flow with whatever you feel in your gut.
If you create a digital vision board in something like a digital notebook or on Canva, I highly suggest printing out a few physical copies to place in areas you frequent often like your desk, bedside table, etc. I also recommend creating your board on a day that you’re feeling good energetically, not tired or emotionally drained.
Tap into all of your senses while creating the vision board to add even more power behind your intentions. Listen to music that uplifts you, drink your favorite beverage, and light a candle or burn some incense. Anything that helps raise your vibe (for more on this topic, check out this post on how to raise your vibrations).
When your vibe is high, your thoughts and feelings are in alignment with the things you’re putting on your board.

Speaking of feelings, you really want to feel the emotions as if you already have everything on your vision board. Think in terms of “I have” versus “I want” – while pulling images and inspiration, act and feel grateful for all the things on your board as if they have already manifested in your life. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between wanting and having. So acting “as if” you are already living your dream life, will only attract opportunities and pathways that will enable this to be so.
From now on, you’ll want to check in with this vision board daily. I like to use mine during morning visualization meditations. This is my go-to guided meditation for Monday mornings to help set my intentions for the week:
The more time you spend exposing yourself to the vision board, the better. So don’t be shy about plastering it on your bathroom wall, the cover of a planner or journal, or even on your tech devices as wallpapers and lock screens.
Craft a Plan
Based on your vision board, you now have a road map of where you want to be and the goals you are setting out to achieve. Break down each of those goals and work backward to create a realistic plan of action that doesn’t feel overwhelming. It’s easier to look at small steps along the way than to stare at the final goal and not know how you’re going to get there.
Ex: you want to become someone who exercises 6 times a week. But, you’re currently someone who only exercises once a week. So, you may want to start with 2 times a week for 3 weeks. Then you switch it up to 3 times a week for a month. Then 4 times a week for 2 months… and so on. Next thing you know, you’ll be effortlessly exercising 6 times a week because it was a gradual approach that became a solidified habit over time.
Once again, we’re going back to the idea of acting “as if” when creating short term goals and all the steps you’ll take to achieve them. Instead of imagining that you will someday become that person, think… I AM THAT PERSON right now. Then move about your daily routines acting as if you’ve already achieved your goals. This doesn’t mean you don’t have to put in the time, effort, and work. But, it will put you in a state of ease where you can emotionally align with those feel-good-vibes.
If you need to be a little delusional along the way, then do so! Pretend your life is a movie, and romanticize small tasks. Spot random “glimmers” throughout the day. (A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger, a micro moment that makes you feel at ease or brings you joy.)
Listen to an uplifting playlist while tackling tasks that feel daunting – pretend it’s the soundtrack to your movie-life. Embrace that main character energy until you eventually DO become that person. However, be patient and compassionate with yourself. Change doesn’t happen overnight. The key is consistency and true commitment.
Aside from setting goals, know your why (or emotional reasoning) behind each goal. Setting arbitrary goals just because you think they have to happen or you see others doing it, means nothing. If you have a strong emotional attachment to your goals, you will achieve them faster and with much less resistance.
One of my favorite journaling exercises to unlock the emotional attachment behind a goal is called The 7 Whys.
The 7 Whys exercise is a journaling technique that is used to explore cause-and-effect relationships. Often used to unveil truths behind a specific issue or area of life you feel stuck in. But, it can also help drill into the root reason why you are innately drawn to a specific goal or aspiration.
For example, if your goal is to write a book in the upcoming year, the 7 Whys exercise could go as follows:
1. Why do you want to write a book? (your answer: because I want to share my knowledge on a topic)
2. Why do you want to share your knowledge on this topic? (your answer: because it could be helpful for others)
3. Why do you want to help others? (your answer: because it’s what most fulfills me)
4. Why does helping others fulfill you the most?
and so on.
Oftentimes, you can get to the root within 5-7 “whys” but this exercise is really eye opening and can be applied to any goal you want to achieve. When you reach your ultimate “why” this will either enhance the emotional connection you have with the goal 10x or make you realize that it’s not really something you truly desire in your core. It’s a great tool to turn to when you’re ready for a life reset so that you can reevaluate your inner desires and make sure you’re on the right path.
When doing these journaling prompts and exercises, you can use healing crystals, sage, and other metaphysical tools to help enhance the vibrational energy. Click here to read more about all things metaphysical by my favorite ladies over at Blonde 2 Brunette.
Next up, grab a planner (either physical or digital) and set aside a few good hours to create your reset roadmap. How can you break down big goals into small actionable steps? Can you schedule these into your monthly, weekly, and daily plans in a way that will seamlessly lead to your dream life? Be super realistic, and let go of any area, task, or habit that no longer serves you. If you need to cut back on something that is holding you back, this is the time to replace that timeslot with something more meaningful or productive.
Keep your vision board on hand as you make these plans, remembering your why. You’ll start to see that large goals can be achieved if you chip away at them with a realistic and practical approach.
This planning session is not only really helpful and productive (future you will thank you for it) but it will also create a whirlwind of passion and energy around you, which intensifies momentum and creates new avenues of inspiration and ideas.
Get witchy with it
Aside from digging deep with shadow work, visualizing your dream life, and coming up with an actionable and realistic plan, you’re also going to take this time to partake in some witchy practical magic exercises that will help you level up energetically so that you are vibrationally matched with the goals you want to manifest. These rituals may sound a bit woo-woo, but stay with me… they truly are the perfect cherry on top of this life reset sundae.
Witchy practical magic exercises:
- Bay Leaf Manifestation: This is my favorite New Year’s Eve ritual, but you can do this anytime. Use a pen or marker to write your manifestation on a bay leaf. As you’re writing, sink into the feeling and emotion of having achieved or received what you’re manifesting. Get super clear with your intentions. Then, hold the leaf with a pair of tweezers and carefully set it on fire. As it burns, visualize and sit with those feelings once again, then blow the remaining ashes into the sky. Release and let go of any attachments to the manifestation and trust that it’s in the Universe’s hands now.
- Bowl Rituals: There are many different bowl rituals, but my favorites are the money and house protection ones. For the money bowl ritual, take a bowl and add a layer of salt. Draw a money sign into the salt and begin adding elements that relate to prosperity: a green candle, cinnamon stick, citrine crystal, coins and currency, basil for luck, mint for wealth, and bay leaves to enhance manifestation. Then, light the candle and recite affirmations out loud such as “money flows to me easily” and “all the money I spend comes back to me multiplied” while visualizing your dream money goal outcome, again, tapping into the feeling.
- Tarot Card Pull: A life reset is the perfect time to sink into a longer and more elaborate tarot card pull, like this Year Ahead 7 card tarot spread. If you don’t have your own set of cards, you can find some great tarot reading videos on YouTube for all areas of life. I prefer the “pick a card” readings where you select your spread based on crystals, numerology, or the designs on a deck of cards that you feel the most drawn to. My favorites to watch are The Gem Goddess and White Feather Tarot.
- Quantum Leap Shower: Best done at night right before going to bed. Start by journaling and writing down a generous list of things you are grateful for. Then hop in the shower and as the warm water falls over you, think of all the things you want to release and let go of (fears, doubts, worries, anxiety, etc.) Close your eyes and feel the water rinsing these negative feelings and emotions out of your body and down the drain. Next, switch over to cold water, and imagine the reality you want to manifest. Picture yourself, in detail, living the exact lifestyle you want to live. Map out your ideal/perfect day, and feel the positive emotions that this brings up. Really sit in those feelings and let them reach to your very core. You’re then going to step in and out of the stream of water 3 times. Lastly, go to bed immediately after the shower and fall asleep while listening to 888 Hz frequency music, preferably with headphones for the full effect, once again feeling gratitude and tapping into the emotions that align with your dream life. Water has very strong cleansing and spiritual energy, so this is a powerful one to help raise your vibrations way up.
Speaking of showers, consider adding a shower affirmation card deck to your collection. These will make a huge impact as it’s a surefire way to focus on an affirmation for several minutes every single day. I like to pull one card on Monday and use the same affirmation in the shower all week long. Then switch to a different card on the next Monday.
Reading the same affirmation for a week straight will help drive it further into your subconscious mind as repetition and consistency are what truly make a difference.
You can also sprinkle affirmations into other areas of your life that you look at frequently like your daily planner or journal, phone lock screen, or computer wallpaper. Getting into the habit of reading (or speaking) affirmations daily will help reprogram your subconscious mind so that you are in alignment with what you truly desire.
Pair this with a daily journaling practice (either continue with shadow work or start a new gratitude journal to mark the start of your life reset!) and you’ll be on your way to attracting so much abundance and opportunity in ways you never could have imagined.
