We’re back, witches!
I’m thrilled to be collaborating with my insanely talented, creative, and fall-loving besties Caro (from Blonde2Brunette blog) and Ruthmarie (aka The Vintage Raven) again this year for FrightFemmes – a Halloween costume and makeup series that we’ve been using as an excuse to play adult dress-up with for over 5 years now! Take a peek at this throwback video to get a feel for the ~vibes~ or click here to see ALL of our past looks.
In a nutshell, this collab is an ode to our love for all things Halloween… especially, the makeup & costuming. So grab your broomsticks + potions, and check back every Friday to see 15 different looks over the upcoming weeks. You can expect to see tons of costume ideas, makeup application tips+tricks, and even a few DIY projects sprinkled throughout.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our homage to the fabulously quirky and fan-favorite trio, The Sanderson Sisters. Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the long-awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus as we kick off this year’s spooky season!
Here’s a peek at some of our ideas for the shoot. Because all good things start with a good plan.

For the photoshoot, we each embraced a more muted version of the sisters’ signature color palettes (Caro as Winnie, Ruthmarie as Mary, and myself as Sarah) and created an earthy and whimsically inspired version of each of their looks. We used custom dye mixes, repurposed thrifted materials, and DIY-ed a few of the pieces until our looks blended together into the perfectly ethereal vision we had dreamt up for the shoot.
BTW, can you believe Ruthmarie made the amazing Hocus Pocus Book of Spells you see in some of the photos?! Click to see more details on that.
We hope you are inspired by the moody images and begin to feel the magic of this witchy season ahead.
Come little children, I’ll take thee away. Into a land of enchantment. Come little children, the times come to play. Here in my garden of magic.
