It’s been about a year now since I designed the Secret Garden scarf for my brand, TWG Designs. It’s been one of the most-loved product in the shop and to this day I am thrilled to see when I get tagged in someone’s picture or post sharing the ways they style it.
Today I figured I’d share some of my personal favorite ways to style the scarf. At 27×27 inches, it’s the perfect size to tie around your head, neck, accessories, and maybe even rock as a top! The satin material drapes beautifully and the bold botanical print is so fun for the spring and summer months.
- the low bun – gather hair into a low bun at the nape of your neck and secure with a standard hair tie/elastic. Wrap the scarf around the base of the bun and tie a knot. Flip the scarf upside down so that the tail ends of the knot peak out from underneath the bun.
- the rose headband – this can be done with hair loose or tied in a ponytail/bun. Fold the scarf diagonally into a long strip. Start by placing the scarf behind the head close to the nape of the neck, and bring the ends up to the top. Tie into a knot, and then twist the tail ends around the knot to create the rosette shape. Finish by tucking in any loose ends under the band of the scarf.
- the low pony – gather all your hair to one side and secure into a loose, low ponytail using a standard hair tie/elastic. Fold the scarf diagonally into a long strip and tie around the hair elastic.
- the scarf top – fold the scarf diagonally into a large triangle. Drape the folded part over your bust and use the two tail ends of the scarf to tie a secure knot at the back. Tip: wear a strapless bra and wrap/tuck the scarf around the back of the bra before tying the knot.
- the head scarf – fold the scarf diagonally into a large triangle. Place the folded part along the forehead and bring the two tail to the back of the head Tie the two tail ends into a secure knot. Tuck the loose corner of the triangle under the knot.
- the neck tie – fold the scarf diagonally and tie around the neck. You can leave the tail ends of the knot on the front, or flip them around to the back and have a “v” shape in the front instead.
Last but not least, a classic tie around a handbag for a chic and effortless vibe.
