Over 5 years ago I made the decision to go dairy-free and it was the best thing I ever did, particularly for my skin. I suffered from really painful adult cystic acne for YEARS and tried everything under the sun (so much $$ wasted on skincare products), before finally realizing the root of my problem was dairy. Almost instantly after cutting all dairy from my diet (cold turkey style) my skin essentially said “THANK YOU” and my painful acne went away within a month or two.
(Figured I’d share this little backstory in case someone else is struggling with skin/acne issues and hasn’t tried cutting dairy to see if it helps.)
Anyway, here is a list of my favorite non-dairy or dairy alternatives for those with allergies or just want to cut down on their dairy intake overall. These have all become staples in my kitchen and keep me feeling like I’m not totally missing out on all the dairy fun.
