If you follow my brand on Instagram, you may have seen that last week I posted a fun little series of polls on my stories.
A lot of you played along and voted for your favorite options to decide the theme and color palette of a new illustration.
Because it ended up being SO much fun to watch and see what you โdesignedโ I figured I would share it as a blog post and document the whole process.
I left each poll question up for 30 minutes before locking in the results. That way I was able to cater the next poll to the results of the previous poll.
THE POLL Categories that I used to narrow down the illustration details were:
TYPE: Fashion Girl OR Flatlay of elements
THEME: Fashion items OR Food
LOCATION: Coffee House OR Picnic
COLORS: 2 color palettes that work with any theme!
The final illustration ended up beingโฆ
a food flatlay set in a coffee house using a warm neutral & teal/pink color palette.
It was interesting to see that every single poll result ended up being the opposite of what I PERSONALLY would have chosen, ha! So this really did end up being more of a โchallengeโ for me.
I envisioned the final illustration to be set in a trendy bistro/cafe, on a cool table that had some sort of interesting detail or tile.
I wanted the flatlay to look โlived inโ so the elements were scattered and overlapped instead of perfectly aligned in grid format.
The birds eye view of a flatlay is also an exciting layer to play with, so I took advantage and left the espresso lid open to show the yummy goodness inside.
And lastly, I decided to include a small peek of a chair, rug, and flooring to add even more dimension to the final pieceโฆ
THE FINAL ILLUSTRATION
AND, since YOU guys were the ones who helped create thisโฆ I also went ahead and listed a clip art bundle in the shop for those of you who want to download the individual elements for projects, products. or simply add to your collection of TWG goodies!
The download includes a bonus 10×10 inch JPEG file of the table/background. You can use it to layer on the clip art elements in the bundle to create your own unique flatlay scene, or use it as a background for other clip art elements in your digital library
I plan to do more of these illustration challenges in the future, so be sure to follow @TWGdesigns on instagram to participate in the polls!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
