For the fourth week of this #FrightFemmes series (a Halloween makeup & styling collab with Caro from Blonde2Brunette blog) we ended it with a bang – my first Halloween party in the new home!
{check out the intro post about this series – flashback to 2015!}
Up until now, our weekly looks have been more or less on the same wave length, but this time, we have two totally different costume looks to share with you – including a fun unexpected couples add-on for each! Caro and her fiancรฉ went as a stunningly gorgeous pair of bride&groom skeletons – so elegant, whimsical, sophisticated and, basically, just COOL! My husband and I ended up unexpectedly pairing up as a Caribbean Queen andโฆ a banana. HA!
Keep scrolling to see our two looks, couples costumes, and some photos of the party decor. (Thanks Caro for the awesome pics!)

CARIBBEAN QUEEN

(Backstory time: Since moving into our first home, we have had numerous nights of dance parties and music โtill early hours of the morning. One of the songs that always ends up being played is โCaribbean Queenโ by Billy Ocean. My husband likes to call me that since, I was in fact, born in the Caribbean, and itโs since become a little inside joke. Hence the inspo for this years costume.)
- This weekโs makeup is actually SUPER basic. Itโs a standard smokey eye with winged liner, full brows, and a spicy red lip.
- What I did to amp it up a bit was go a little heavier on the bronzer/contourโฆ and LOTS of shimmer, highlight, and glitter all over my chest, arms, and even legs.
- This costume is more about the styling than the makeup. I wanted to wear a mix of prints and have always loved the idea of pairing pink and red together! For the outfit, I found this off the shoulder ruffled bodysuit at Rainbow for under $15, and the pineapple print shorts from the SALE section at Forever21 (around $7). The belt with gold buckle was a Goodwill find ($3) and the shoes I already had in my closet.
- The other layer of this look is the JEWELRY. I knew I wanted to wear large, exaggerated earrings (I actually made these by taking apart and combining 2 different pairs of chandelier earrings) and a TON of bracelets (I legit put on as many beaded bracelets and bangles my wrists could handle).
- And lastly, the look is completed by the headpiece. I purchased the base of the headpiece (a headband with the fruit and small flowers attached) from this Etsy shop. Then, I added the larger flowers and a butterfly to give it more substance and height. I wore it behind a stretchy twisted headband to make it look like more of a headwrap/turban and thatโs it!
- My husbands banana costume is from Amazon. He had actually purchased this last year but we didnโt end up doing anything. When we realized last minute that he would be wearing a banana this year, it was the perfect coincidence, and we ended up with a completely unplanned couples costume. ๐
And now for some party pics!
And that concludes VOL.4!
